The danger of conventional cleaning
VOCs in the air
Many conventional cleaners release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The EPA notes that while people use products containing organic chemicals, they can expose themselves to high pollutant levels that linger in the air long after the task is done.¹

Steam is safe for tile, grout, sealed hardwood, most sealed stone, appliances, and upholstery. We assess your surfaces before starting. We do not steam unsealed natural stone or certain delicate finishes.

For over a decade, I worked as a physician. I watched patients come in with chronic sinusitis, skin rashes, and breathing difficulties — and time after time, the culprit was hiding in plain sight: the very products being used to ‘clean’ their homes. Ammonia, bleach, synthetic fragrances, phthalates. We call them cleaners. Clinically, they're irritants.
When I moved to Palm Harbor, my own allergies got worse. Florida's humidity means year-round dust mites, mold, and pollen. I tried every cleaning service in the area. They all smelled like a chemical factory. I was reacting to my own clean home. That's when I built Orla — not as a business opportunity, but as the solution I couldn't find anywhere else.
